IRIS Identification and Referral to Improve Safety

Next Link has been funded to provide a specialist domestic abuse worker to work with G.P. practices in Bristol.

It is a three year project in partnership with Bristol PCT, Bristol University and equivalent organisations in Hackney, East London.

The IRIS project team (Identification and Referral to Improve Safety) will work with a randomised selection of GP practices in both areas to train and support primary care clinicians in recognising domestic abuse and in supporting their female patients.

The specialist domestic violence advocate-educator employed by Next Link will help to train clinicians and be the first point of contact for women requiring further help.

If the project is successful in increasing the number of women patients who seek help it will be rolled out across the country.
